Empowering communities through sustainable conservation

For years, communities in Gidagharibu and Giding’wari depended on unreliable energy sources to pump water. A broken generator and unstable electricity supply meant that access to safe water could not always be guaranteed.

In Kiteto District, families once queued for hours at unreliable water points. Today, community members fill their buckets at a newly rehabilitated water point, safe water flowing steadily thanks to a strengthened, community-managed system.

Each afternoon in Kisimiri Chini village, women line up at a single borehole while herders bring 450 cattle and more than 1,300 goats and sheep to the trough beside it, people and animals sharing one water point on the mountain slope.
